Part 1
Today the article was about why colleges should ban football as one of their atheletic programs. Now, before I go any deeper into this subject, let me just say that whoever wrote this piece, is a complete and utter jerk. How could you think such a thing? Anyway, as I said before, the article is about why college should ban football due to the fact that they don't provide anything academically. Also, because 43% of the 120 schools in the FBS lost money last year. Sounds like a personal problem to me.
According to the article, there aren't many pros. But one that you can get from this article is that the students who are good at football, do get to move on and play professionally. However, the article doesn't focus on the pros, purely the cons. While reading, you find con after con after con. Things such as students don't graduate, players don't make a dime off the profit, coaches make obscene amounts of money, it has nothing to do with academics. But let me pose a question here, what sport does involve academics?
The alternative that the article suggests is actually quite stupid. The author suggests that collegs should cut and ban football from their athletics and put that money towards sports where students actually have a higher graduation rate like swimming or track and field. Let me tell you, I love to watch some college swimming and love it even more to watch track and feild. Give me a break.
In my opinion this guy needs to watch his mouth. The only people who are going to agree with this guy are nerds who were never good at anything in life and over-protective "mommy's." Too many of the American people love football for someone to have the nerve to say such a thing. To be honest, if I were this guy, I would take this article down and hide for a good amount of time.
Part 2
In the last year, the top 2 college football teams were the two who played in the national championship. They are Alabama and LSU. These two schools are constantly at the top of the college football rankings, making them a dangerous team year in and year out. However, these schools are extremely hard to get into. Wheather you play athletics or you just apply during your senior year of high school You have to be the cream of the crop to get in, and even better if you want to play football at one of these schools. Last year, Alabama made $45,221,741 and LSU made about the same. The tution to get into Alabama is $17,825/year and the tution for LSU is 9,684. A large difference between the two schools, but not on the football field.

Recently, Facebook created a 3 BILLION, not million, BILLION dollar advertising business. Facebook plans to introduce this business on May 18th during an IPO roadshow convention. Although this may seem like a great idea, many investors are uneasy about it. They don't know wheather or not putting all the money into it, will really give them what they want. They don't know what they are getting for their dollar. One of the advertisers that are skeptical about the advertising is a company that had been advertising on Facebook since 2009, Kia Motors. Although they are unsure about the new advertising, they will continue to put millions and millions of dollars into advertising on Facebook. But this is not the first time that Facebook has done something like this. Last year, they launched a feature of their website entitiled "Sponsored Stories." Here, advertisers could repost peoples positive posts on the Facebooks news feed, therefore highlighting them for others to see. For this sort of service, advertisers pay a rate based on the views that the post gets. It will be interesting to see how this new advertising business works out. Facebook has not exactly been on the uprise with the outbreakings of other social networking sites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram taking the lead, leaving Facebook behind along with past social networking giants in Myspace and Formspring.

How about some exciting news for all you electirc car drivers? Soon, Orlando area WALGREENS will be recieving new car charging stations. Yes, you head it here, brand new car charging stations. How many you ask? A wopping total of 8 or 9 throughout the Orlando area. But there is some bad news that must come with all this exciting news. The locations of the Walgreens who will recieve these electric car charges were not released. These charging stations are compatible with all North American made electic vehicles. Once again, however, we have some bad news once again. It does cost more to charge at a public station like the ones at the Walgreens than it would at home. At these public places, it costs a total of 4 cents per minute and at home it costs less. At the public charging stations, you must charge for a minimum of 15 minutes. Although this may seem outragous, it is not. It is actually quite convient. If someone knows that their car is about to die and they need a charge in the worst of ways, why not stop off at a public charging station at a Walgreens, grab a soda and a pack of animal crackers, and bite the bullet and pay the 4 cents per minute so that you can get to your next destination. It makes more sense.

PART 1
Current and former college students are falling behind big time. Not in life, but financially. This is not because they cannot get a job or are spending too much. It is because they have too much to pay back in studetns loans. Two words that haunt college students throughout life. Ms. Ramine has loans that add up to $79,000 but by the time she pays them back over the course of 25 years, she will have actually have paid $211,000 due to intrest rates although she is still making her payments on time. Students all over the country are going through such things and this is causing most of them to hold off future plans such as weddings, children, and even vist family that live far away.
Students are taking college loans beacuse they are confused and have no idea what they are doing. At the time they apply for loans, it all sounds like a great deal and something that should be able to pay back in no time. But actually, they are wrong. By applying for loans you are securing yourself in debt for years and years to come.
The difference between a government student loan and a private student loan is that a government student loan is money that ithe government gives you that you don't have to pay back. Some examples are scholarships and grants. However, a private loan is where you go to a private company, and they give you a loan so that you can pay for college but you MUST pay it back. Also, this money has an interest rate on it. So the longer that is takes you pay the money back, the more you are going to actually have to pay back. $79,000 may turn into $211,000 that you must pay back.
Deferring payments are so risky because the intrest rates go up and you have no idea what the payments are gong to be like. It is all because of the interest rates. They cause you to have to pay back a lot more than you oringinally signed up for.

I know that one of the most popular government student loan programs is FastWeb. That is a company that gives out scholarships that you apply for so that it takes money off the cost for college. Some scholarships ranges from $50 to $10,000! A private students loan company are banks or credit card companies. Some examples are Discover, Wells-Fargo, and Citi-Financial.
Last year, all three companies that I had previously stated had all profitted. Although they all did give out large sums of money, the money that was paid back to them was more than they had given out, due to intrest rates, therefore, causing them to see a profit.
Some alternatives to taking out student loans are taking governement loans. The money that they give you, you don't have to pay back. Such things as going onto FastWeb.com and filling out applications for any scholarship that you think you qualify for. Also, if you go and fill out a FASFA, that is also a government funded program that gives out money depending on your parents income, taxes, and things of that nature. Finally, there is Bright Futures. If you take an elective class for 3 or more years and maintain a B average in those three years, Bright Futures will pay 75% of your college tution on top of the money you get from scholarships and FASFA.

PART 1
Today, many students are graduating high school earlier than in four years. Most in three years and some in even less time than that. How do they do it? They simply take senior required classes their junior year, and take all the other classes online. A great way to get an early start on college and life in the real world. But there are those who are skeptical of gradutating early. Some say that students are just not ready for college at the age of 17 or less. They need that extra year to really prepare them for thwat college is going to be like. Others think that it is a fantastic idea and it is a great way to think about retiring a year early and to get into your profession a year earlier.
As I previously said, some pros of graduating early are the fact that you can get a head start on your future profession. There instead of graduating college at 22, you graduate at 21, therefore giving you the chance to make more money. However, a con is that you may not be ready for college and colleges may not be ready to accept you due to your lack of high school exeperience.
Honestly, I have never considered early graduation. I want to enjoy my senior year with all my friends and do all the things there are to do in your senior year. I don't want to skip out on prom and class trips just to graduate a year ealier. However, if I were to graduate 2 years early, that is a totally different story. In that case, I would be all for it.

The numher of students around the US who choose to graduate early is at around 5%. Most students want to graduate with their class or don't want to take all the extra classes on their free time when they could be doing other fun activities. And I don't blame them. I go to school for 10 months out of the year, the two months that I have off, I don't want to even think about school.
There are always the stories of kids who have attended college and within in the first two years or so, they realized that it wasn't for them and then dropped out. Then there are the stories where they go for the full four or however many years, graduate and then run a fortune 500 company, and finally, there are the stories where you have to students who don't go to college and then have a fortune 500 comapany. Which one will you be?

PART 1
Students in high schools all over the country are starting to crack down on dress code for their high school's prom. Mostly girls. The simple fact that most girls dresses are too revealing for a school event is causing high schools to take drastic measures. Facilty and staff at the high schools ranging from Conneticut to Arizona, are giving presentations on what is and what is not acceptable. The reason why the presentations are given is to (1) give the students a clear understanding of what is allowed and (2) to avoid turning girls away at the door for one of the biggest nights of their high school career. Although girls are mostly the problem, men (not boys) are not exempt. They are not allowed to have pants that sag below the waist, have canes, hats, jeans, ect. Also, they must keep their shirt on all night. It is said that the staff "doesn't care if you work out. " But I say,"hey, if you have it, show it off."
This is fair. The fact that they give the students presentations and packets on what to wear and what not to makes it even more fair. Some schools have high expectations than others and don't allow somethings that others do. It is all about where you go. If they don't think something is acceptable, then it is not. They give the students plenty of time to advance to understand the dress code and get what is appropriate.
I would have a dress code in place but not as strict as we are reading about in the article. Probably somewhat of what we have here at Pine Ridge. Not too over the top. It is your high school prom. You should be able to enjoy it. Not have to dress like you are going skiing.
In my opinion this policy will work. I mean it works here at Pine Ridge so I'm pretty sure it will work in another place.

There are some stores online that around this time of year have specially a section for prom. For men, we have Men's Warehouse and for women they have stoes like Dillards and Macys. Around this time of year you will see stores such as these and many others adveritse specials for prom. Also company's for limos. Around this time of year they park outside the school to advertise specials that they have for a group to go to prom. There are also other factors such as dinner, hotels, tickets, ect.
My experience with prom last year was mediocre. To be totally honest, I didn't really enjoy it. The group I went with was not the group that I wanted to be with. The theme was not that great. The dancefloor was way too crowded and it just was not what I expected. Then I didn't get to go to the hotel afterwards because I was conned into staying somewhere I didn't even want to stay. But after all of that, I told myself that despite that fact I did not really have a good time, I am going again my senior year. But this time I will do it the way I want to. Go with the group that I want to, stay in the hotel afterwards, ect.
Was it worth the money. Last year,,,no. But this year I feel like it is going to be a different story. I am going with the same group of people that I went to homecoming with and if that was any indication of how prom is going to be, I am looking forward to it!

The article is about a case where a teenage boy was shot and killed by a 28 year old man who claims it was out of self-defense. The teenage boy's name was Trayvon Martin and the man who shot him was named George Zimmerman. It is believed that Martin was walking to his father's girlfriend's house from a nearby 7-Eleven. Zimmerman was the commutiy watch man who carries a 9mm with a permit. He called 9-1-1 and reported a suspicious behavior. He started following the boy. What happened next seemed unclear. All we know is that the Martin was shot and killed and that Zimmerman has yet to be arrested.
The main issue in the case is race. Martin was a black teenage boy and Zimmerman is a hispanic. Many think that Mr. Zimmerman did this because of the fact that Martin was black, but he claims it was out of self defense. Another issue is that fact that Zimmerman has yet to be arrested. Many people, inluding myself, find it astonishing that a man could shoot and kill someone, and still not be arrested for it.
This is drawing so much national attention because of the fact that many believe that this was a race crime. They think that Zimmerman did this just because the boy was black and because he was black, he was automatically "acting suspicious." Also, the fact that Zimmerman has yet to be arrested is angering some people. How can someone kill someone and not be arrested. At the time, we didn't know that Casey Anthony killed her daughter, yet she was arrested but here we KNOW that Zimmerman shot and kill Martin and he is still a free man.
In my opinion, I think that Zimmerman should be arrested and put on trial. There is no reason that a 28 year old man should shoot at a teenage boy. Can he really not defend himself against a teenager that much that he must go right to shooting the boy? I'm sure that a 28 year old man could defend himself without the use of a deadly weapon like that because fromt he look of Zimmermans pictures, he doesn't look like a weak little guy.

The Florida "Stand Your Ground Law" is when a person is presumed to have a fear of death or great bodily harm to him or herself or another when using a defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another IF: (1) the person who the defensive force was used against is in the process of unlawfully entering a dwelling, residence, occupied vehicle, or if they were trying to forcfully remove a person from a dwelling, residence, occupied vehile or (2) the person using the defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry was occuring or had occured. In other words it has to do if someone was to forcefully invade your car or residence. In this case, Martin was not going to Zimmerman's car or residence, he was going to his father's girlfriend's house where he was to stay. There, Zimmerman is at fault.
In my opinion, I find that this law is right. If people want to invade your personl space such as your home or vehicle and you fear that you could be hurt or even die, you should be able toact upon that is a way that you choose. You have fear and they are breaking the law as well as into your own area.
However, this does not apply to this case. Martin was not goint to invade anything of Zimmerman's. Therefore Zimmerman is at fault, should be arrested, put on trial, and in my opinion, recieve the death penalty for killing another person. We already let Casey Anthony get away with murder, we cannot let this man get away with it also.

Students at Noble Street College Prep are having to pay for even the samllest infractions. For example, it is $5 for a detention. It is reported that last year, the school earned over $190,000 just in fees paid by students who had infractions. They say that this teaches students to follow the rules. Which makes sense because I know that I don't want to give someone my money for being late to a class, therefore, I would always follow the rules in order to keep my money.
I like this policy. If you do such a thing, then you can really crack down on all the small things that bother all of administration at a school. Administration hates when students are late to class, skip, back talk, ect. and by making students pay for such insidents, then you can reduce all of them because students don't want to pay their own money. I am all for it and think it is a great idea for all schools to implement such a policy.
Like I said in the previous paragraph, I think that our school should put in such a plicy. By doing this, students will start to follow the rules. Not only that, but then the school will make money that they can put toward such things as sports, or after school activities.
Yes, there is a huge problem here. Everyday, students are are late to class, walk out of class, and do such things really make this place look bad. But if they were to put such a system in place, all of those problems would really be decreased.

Like I said in the previous paragraph, I think that our school should put in such a plicy. By doing this, students will start to follow the rules. Not only that, but then the school will make money that they can put toward such things as sports, or after school activities.
Yes, there is a huge problem here. Everyday, students are are late to class, walk out of class, and do such things really make this place look bad. But if they were to put such a system in place, all of those problems would really be decreased.

The NFL is looking to advance technologically. Starting next year, the NFL will be implementing some new devices that will further advance the game. The refs will have handheld tablets that will make it much easier for them to make the right call. At the goal line, there will be a laser straight across that will let you know when the ball crosses the plane and it is a touchdown. Coaches will also have handheld tablets that will replace the laminate pieces of paper that coaches currently have on the sideline. This will make it much eaiser for coaches to scroll throgh the plays for thier players.
People are suggesting that it will make the game better by making it go by quicker. All these advances that I mentioned in the previous paragraph will make the game go by faster and get the calls more effient. This will make the game have a lot more of fair calls, therefore causing no controversy.

Some of the United States military services are starting to introduce random breath tests of the troops on duty. This applies particularly to the Navy and Marines. The random tests are a part of a broader health and safety push. Officials say that the push will be a tough sell with weary troops that are returning after a decade long war. This program is being installed to identify troops that need counseling or treatment. For the ones that test postivily for a high blood alcohol level or for illegal substances will not be allowed to go on duty but they will not be penalized on their permant record. Armed Forces such as the Army or Air Force do not have such a policy intact.
They are starting these tests because they are coming out of a decade long war and the long term effects that such a thing could have on someone is troubling. By installing such a program, you can see what troops need help and what ones are having trouble coping with what they just went through.

According to the article, a bounty, in terms of the NFL is paying players fees to target opponets for injury. In other words, the coaches and possibly some of the players are willing to pay another team memeber if they can knock an opposing player, probably a game changer, out of the game for good, in order to give their teams an advantage on the field and hopefully go on to win the game.
No, it is not "ok" for coaches and players to put out bounties. To put money down for someone to knock a player out of the game is purely disgusting. How could someone do that? Just think of it this way, if someone were to try and knock someone out of the game, and they succeed, then they could end someones career, injuring a player further than they wanted to. It is just a dirty way to play the game.
In my opinion, they would do it so that they could have a better chance at winning. If you can hurt a key player on the other team so bad that they can't come back into the game, then you automatically have a better chance at winning. The player isn't there to make as much of an impact as they normally would, therefore, putting the opposing team in a bad situation while, you can then, pick out that weakness to give your team a better chance to win.

The fact that they coach knows that such a thing was going on and did nothing about it is horrid. A type of bounty system happend in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. There was a player by the name of Len Elmore. He loved to takes charges. Cedric Maxwell and other Boston Celtic players had a bounty going on that if he were to take a charge against them, then they would step on his chest. The payment was only $10 but Mexwell says that "it was enough."
Surprisingly, the Celtics did not get in trouble. Actually, this didn't come out until about a day ago when all the news about the New Oreleans Saints. Maxwell said it as a defense to the Saints in a way that it happend in every sport. That it is something that just happens and you can't help it. It is too late to punish them now. This happend from 1977-1988.

The article is about the uprising of e-books and how they are starting to take over instead of buying the traditional, paperback book. These aren't just taking over the book business just because of the simple fact that they are easier due to the fact that alomst everyone has a smart phone, it is because, unlike real books, these e-books have other features that are more interative with the user. For example, some of the e-books have short movies, trivia, photo albums, ect. that further help the reader understand and help them interact with the book. Since, most readers really do like these features, the sales of e-books are sky-rocketing while sales of the classic book are on a downward spiral.
These books have come along with the uprising of smart phones and tablets. With people all over the world buying and using smart phones or tablets, they then can do many more things that they couldn't do before. For example, with these inventions, you can now carry multiple books with you without even having them physically on you. You can just download them to your phone and people really enjoy that. Also, since, these e-books are much more user friendly, people would rather spend the $9.99 on a book like this than spend that money on a regular book that doesn't have the fun, interactive features.
Although people are still buying tradtional books, no AS MANY people are. Their sales aren't the same. People don't want them as much. They want the extra stuff that traditional books don't have. But, like I said before, although their sales are hurting, they aren't at rock bottom....yet!
The way an e-book works exactly is that you go right into your app marketplace on your smart phone or tablet, you then find a book that your would like to download. From there, you spend the $9.99 or so on your book. Once it downloads, you can read it straight from your phone. The book may come with extras that are fun for the reader to use and they may help them understand the text even more. Not only, do they have the fun games and such, there are some other cool things. I know that with my phone, when I downloada book, I can highlight and underlince certain words or phrases that I find important. Also, if I don't know what a word means, I can highlight and click the word, and then I will be taken to the definition of the word so that I can go on and finish reading.
Is this smart? Of course. With the amount of people that are using such smart products, it would be dumb if they did not produce such a thing. Why would people go through the hassel of going to a bookstore and rent a book that doesn't have the extas you want. And you can't even highlight the text because you have to return it? In the long run, it is just not worth it.

Part 1
The article is somewhat depressing considering the fact that a school district in a small t0wn about 150 miles outside of San Antonio is considering shutting down their high school sports programs all together. The district in Texas is thinking about this because they hope that by cutting the sports program as a whole, it will save enough money in the long run to keep the struggling schools open and keep the small town alive. To some students, this is disappointing due to the fact that they play many sports. One student said that he and his friends were really disappointed when they heard that there would be no more tennis, baseball, and track since they participate in all three of those. Although the state did say that they would re-consider the decision if they were to see improvements in students test scores across the district.
In my opinion, I don' think that this is the right decision. There are other things that the district can do so that they can keep their sports alive and also have students with higher test score. For example, the district can do what we do here at Pine Ridge. They can put in a system where if a
students is ineligiable if they don't have a passing grade in all of their classes and they student may not play until they raise their grades so that they are passing. That way, if the student really has a passion for the sport, then they will work hard to get their grades up and get back on the field.
Sports are important to schools. They bring in revenue. Since the tickets cost money and items at the consession stand do also. Although this may not be a lot of money, it is still a source of revenue and can help the school in some way. Also, if they were to put in a "pay to play" system like we have here where it is $75 to play your first sport and then a second sport is $25. That way, the school is making money that way too.
Honestly, I think that the schools have such a high truancy rate due to the fact that students grades aren't very high. If the grades were better, you would probably see an increase in school attendance and then from there, see the test scores increase, and then from there, the sports programs stay intact.

Here at Pine Ridge, we are not so much as to cutting sport programs as a whole, we are more or less keeping as many as we can active, but having them draw in more revenue with the whole "pay to play" program that I had mentioned earlier. By doing this, we make more money, and students get to play the sport they love. Also, we the rule that you must have a passing grade to be able to participate. If a student is not passing, then they must go to tutoring, raise their grades, and then they can go back to playing the sport.
Instead of cutting out sports, you can cut certain clubs that a lot of people don't participate in. By doing this, you save students and teachers their time and money so that more money can go towards things that students actually participate in. I mean really, how many people actually join and participate in the Earth First Club? If we were to cut those kinds of programs, then money would be saved.
I would apprach it like I just said. By cutting other things that a lot of students aren't active in. So that they fields that the school has put in, don't go to waste and the real clubs/sports that are really a waste and are actually costing the school money to keep, would be cut and have that money go towards more important programs.

In exactly six days, it is the biggest sporting event of the year, the Superbowl, where the New York Giants will square off against the New England Patriots in a rematch of Superbowl 42. The hype around this game is tremendous and will have people tuning in from all around the world for the much anticipated rematch. Although, the game brings much excitment to not only the fans of the teams playing, but NFL fans in general, there are 10 things that are actually not so good about the big game, I know hard to believe.
The first reason is that tickets are so hard to get. It is nearly impossible to obtain a ticket to this event and if you jsut so happen to find a ticket, it may cost you an arm and a leg. Well not really, but you may have to take out another morgage on your home. That was a lie too. But it will cost you a great amount of money to sit and watch a game where you would be closer to the action if you were to just watch it on your living room couch.
Companies that buy ads during commerical time for the Superbowl, pay a lot of money for those measly 30 seconds. So what do they do? They raise their stock prices just because of they hype. For example, Doritos had a huge deal of success last year with their commercials so, there is a lot of hype of what they will do this year, and because of that, they can raise their stock prices.
Criminals love this event. It may be the best day of the year for them. They scam you by scalping fake tickets are a rediculous amount of money and then once the tickets are off their hands, they are no where to be found, and you are stuck outside the stadium with $2,500 less in your pocket.
Office pools have played a huge part in Superbowl week. Once the two participants are decided, office pools take place along with office bets and then it is estimated that there are at least a one billion dollar loss in productivity.
A lot of money is lost also. It is estimated that a total of 10 billion dollars are lost because of bets people bet such as "How many times will Peyton Manning be metioned?" or "Will Tom Brady throw for 280 yards?" Silly bets such as these are too unpreditable and that is why so much money is lost every year. But plenty of people do win also but they do not outweight the losers of the bets.
The ads in the game are what most people talk about. Not the game winning plays or whatever else happend in the game. More people car about the ads and just tune in for the ads.
The stadium in which the big game takes place is a huge target for terrorist attacks. With all the people that are not only in attendce but also watch the game at home, it is a prime target for terrorits and security is always on high alert during an event such as the Superbowl.
During this time, people throw parties and such. It is reported that at least 15% of Americans throw or attend parties for the big game. Also, it is reported that the following Monday is the biggest day to call in sick to work. Therefore, in some peoples' opinion, the game should be on that Saturday, so the drunks have time to recover on Sunday and will be ready for work on Monday.
Such an event, would be fantastic for the local economy, you would think. Wrong actually. For the bid, it takes a lot of upgrades and a lot of spending to make your city the most appealing for the big game. With all the money spent, you may win the bid and get the game in your city, but between all the hotels, tickets, and ect. you really just make back the money you spent to get the game in your city. So, it evens out, not so worth it.
If your team is in the Superbowl, it can be stressful. Actually, it is reported that a Superbowl loss had triggered an increase in heart attacks. So if your team is in the big game, just relax and remember, it is not a life or death situation, it is just game and has no effect on your life.

Also, about the heart attacks. At first glance I thought that it was joke or just a figure of speech. In all reality, it is true. The article tells the story of a girl whose parents and guidence counslor thought that their student should major in engineering when she were to go to college. So, she listened and decided to major in engineering. She would later drop out due to the rigorous courses and low grades that she was getting. Then after doing some research, she found out that not many students graduate from college who have that major and then saw that people who major in human relations have a higher graduation percentage but don't make as much money. In the end, she saw that it was worth switching majors and after that, graduated college and has been working in human relations.

Finally, once again, we have a topic of our choice. It has a been a while, I know. But today is the first day back since Thanksgiving break and that was a well needed break. Thanksgiving was awesome to say the least. The food was just off the hook. I ate so much food that day, that when it was time for pie, I skipped out on it and waited for the next morning. Even then I had second thoughts on eating it. I went for the pie anyway and it was well worth it. The football on Thanksgiving was alright. Sort of disappointed that the Lions lost but the NFC doesn't matter. Then the game that everyone was looking forward to, 49ers vs Ravens, wasn't even as good as I thought it would have been. Overall though, Thanksgiving was an awesome day just like it is every single year.
Besides Thanksgiving, there isn't much to talk about concerning the break. It was really just a break for me to relax and catch up on all the sleep that I lose due to this school. One day, I slept til one in the afternoon. I was somewhat disappointed in myself considering most of my day was already gone. Now, I have to come back to the wonderful PRHS for two and a half weeks and then its Christmas break and that is just going to be awesome. More on that as we near that break.
The Patriots won yesterday, no suprise there considering that they are the best team to ever play in the NFL. They beat the so called "dream team" in the Eagles. The game started out really rough. The Eagles got off to a quick 10-0 lead. But after that, the Pats caught fire. Making it 24-13 at one point and then 31-13 and then 38-13 and then letting up a late touchdown to make the final score 38-20 Patriots improving their record to 8-3 and first place in AFC. Although the Pats may get the first seed for the second year in a row, you still have to be worried since they have not won a playoff game in 3 years. That could all change this year though.
Baseball conditioning starts tomorrow. I'm stoked. haven't played in a long time but this year, I'm making my comeback. Just call me Kenny Powers. I predict after this season, I'll go right into the MLB draft and just totally skip college and win the Rookie of the Year my first year and then the CY Young every year until I retire. More information on that as the season progresses and the offers start coming in.

This article is about wheather or not college athletes should get paid for what they do. For years, the argument has been out there but now in days, it is much louder. More and more people are voicing their opinion on the matter and more and more people are saying that they shoud get paid in some way. Wheather it is getting a full ride, having certain expenses paid for, or simply getting paid for their part in the game. Though many people think that it is well deserved, the NCAA officials disagree. Saying that it is unfair to the schools who don't draw in a large sum of money from athletics. Also, some NCAA officials say that they chance of the players being repaid in some way is "not even on the table."
Throughout, the article takes the side that athletes should be paid or recieve benefits in some way. The article gives multiple examples of people who think that they players deserve benefits and high ranking positions in there job that are affiliated with the NCAA. Though it may show some ways that benefiting the players is bad, it mainly shows ways that it is good.
In my opinion, the athletes shouldn't be paid. Most of these athletes have a full ride scholarship because of their athletic ability. What more can they ask for? There is no way that they can get the full ride and get paid for playing the game. That is just not right. But if that were to happen, then I would say they would have to get rid of their full ride due to the fact that the money that they are making, can go to their tuition.
Players should get paid because of the amount of money a school brings in for sporting events. Just a college football game alone brings in thousands of dollars. Then you have basketball, baseball, ect. that is a lot of money. That money could then be turned around and used to pay the players for all their hard work that they have put in to make that certain sports program what it is.
But as I said before, I don't think that the players should be paid. They already get so many benefits on campus that paying them would only give them more power and anger others. Also, deciding how much to pay these althletes would be a big deal. You aren't going to pay the womens basketball team the same as the football team. It just isn't fair. Also, not paying these players makes them appreciate when the make it to the pros more. Say a player gets paid $1 million for playing quaterback at the University of Florida. Then he gets drafted the NFL and his contract offer is $750,000 for his first year. The player is going to be upset and not want to do his best when he got paid higher at a lower level. If that same player didn't get paid in college and got offered the same contract in the NFL, he would appreciate a lot more and do his best to get a higher paying salary.

Finally, we have a blog with a topic of our choice. It has been a long time since I have come back to my fellow followers and I just want to say that if feels good to be back. In case you were wondering, I am doing great. Life has been so good and there is just too much for me to tell all of you guys. But I will try and fit in as much as I possibly can for all of you guys.
To begin with, this year I am now a senior. I can’t even believe it. It feels as if just yesterday I
was a freshman and starting my first blog. But it has been 4 years since I have started this world-known blog. As for my senior year, so far it has been better than I have ever thought. We just had our senior assembly to vote for senior class superlatives, class song, flower, colors modo, ect. As for our song, it is an awful song and is very cliché. Our song that won is “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey. Honestly, it is a good song, I love it, but it is not a class song. It is something too cliché. Our flower is the teal rose, which is not even real, and our colors are teal, black and gold although it really should be red, white, and blue. But on a better note, I might be winning the “best all-around” senior superlative. So I am pretty excited about that. Hopefully I
get it. A lot of people voted for me.
The NFL season has started and is has been awesome to say the least. The Patriots are having an alright season at the moment. They are sitting at 5-3 with two straight losses to the Steelers and the Giants. It was a rough 2 weeks. But deep down, I know they will get it together and finish the season a top the AFC East one again and advance to the playoffs. Only difference is that this time, they are going to the Superbowl and are going to win it all.
This school year, I have made a lot of new friends. Considering that a large part of my friends last year were seniors, I was forced this year to go out and make new friends that were in my grade. It in the long run was a good choice considering that I have lost contact with some of my friends that went off to college. I still keep in touch with the ones that matter. But as for my new friends, they are great. I can honestly say that as the group of friends that I have this year, is better than the group of friends that I had last year. Last year, I was one of 2 juniors in our group and at times, it was awkward. But now, we are all seniors and get along. Although I am still making friends with juniors. That is the lowest I will go . No FRESHMAN. NO SOPHMORES.
So it has been great catching up with you guys. I hope that I can stay in touch more throughout the year with the “topic of your choice” blog. Stay Classy Blogger!

This article is about the ways to study and which method is more effective. Throghout the article, there are multiple ways of how students in all different levels of schools study. It points out that the "all-nighter" is actually a very bad idea considering the fact that you lack sleep and pulling the "all-nighter" actually results in lower grades. Along with the types of studying, you also get to see some the numbers from research that show how effective or ineffective some the studying habits are. Some may actually surprise you in how effective they are. Some methods that you would never see as helpful, actually are.
Once I leave high school I expect my studying habits to become very imporatnt to me. As of right now, I don't study a whole lot. Depending on the class and how well I think I know the material says if I study or not. But once I leave high school and go to college, I fully expect to study like never before. Since I would like to do well in college, I know that I will have to study sometimes even if it means sacrificing a few good times with my friends or missing out on other things. Because if I don't do well in college, (1) my parents would not be happy with me, and (2), how can I be taken seriously in the real world if I didn't do well in college?
Like I said before, depending on if I think I know the material or not alters whether I study or not. But when I study, I usually look over my notes and the key points that the teacher has made to us up until the test. Nothing else more than that. Because I know that if I took it in my notes, and I was paying attention to the teachers, then I should be able to pass the test/quizzes that are thrown my way.
Students are encouraged to study by their grades. If students take the time to study, then their grade will show it. Simply just turning in your classwork will not get you the grade that you want. You must pass the tests and quizzes and the only way to do that is by studying. If you study, you get a good grade on the tests, and if you get a good grade on the tests, than you get the grade that you want in the class, It is a simple science.

In a general sense, this article is about college. But it goes into much more detail. For the most part it talks about the expenses of college. How some students don't make the right decision in college and end up not being able to graduate. So while the article talks about that, it goes into more depth to help you choose the right college so that you can succeed later on in life after you graduate. Like the article says, people like to hear that they have a 90% chance of succeeding rather than a 10% chance of losing.
Colleges are going "postive" with their advertising because people throughout society are starting to realzie that college is somewhat of a rip off. It is way too expensive and for the money that you pay, it is not worth it. There is no guarentee that you will pass or that you will ultimately succeed later on in life. But if the colleges advertised more positivly, than maybe it would sway people and they will get more applicants.
Though some colleges may benefit you down the road, right now, they are too expensive. You would have to take out student loans and then end up having to pay them back in the future. And that could put you in debt with the amount of money that is costs to go to college. I know that I want to go to Boston College. But it costs over $50,000 a year for students who are coming from out of state. Though it will benefit me down that road, it is way too expensive and down the road, I will probably be in debt.
Students are encouraged to do research on colleges to find out which ones are most suitable for them. Just because you like their football team, or school colors does not mean that they are the right place for you. If you do research, you may find a college that will benefit you just as much as the other but at a much cheaper price. As for me, I plan on becoming a sports of movie agent. So, I must research the schools in the state that will help me the most. Eventually, if I want to persue this career, I will have to go to law school and I have to see, what college has the best law school so that I can become the agent that I would like to be in the future.

Article 1
The first article that I chose might come as a surprise for some. It deals with the fact that the Boston Red Sox owner, John Henry, actually was opposed to signing big time free agent Carl Crawford this past off season. After signing Crawford, the all-star left fielder had a more than disappointing season. On Friday, the Red Sox owner came out and spoke to the media, being the Crawford situation as a main point in the press conference. Henry said that he was actually opposed to signing Crawford due to the fact the the Sox already had plenty of left handed hitting. Henry went on to say that that aspect of the game is not his to deal with . That is up to now former General Manager, Theo Epstein. Continuing on, Henry said that the Crawford signing was not a PR move and neither was the Adrian Gonzalez signing. This could be in the heat of the moment but I highly doubt that. With all the money that the Sox have spent in the last two years, totaling up to nearly $400 million on 3 players, you can see that the owner John Henry would be upset at the fact that the team has not made the playoffs in two straight years, a troubling sight for an owner. With GM Epstein gone, I took this as a "I told you so" type of thing. Saying that he (John Henry) knew what he was talking about in the sense that the Crawford signing was a bad idea. It will be interesting to see how the Crawford signing plays out in the next 6 years of his $142 million dollar contract.

Yesterday after the great game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions, the intensity was still not over. After a tremendous game that had the 49ers coming out on top 25-19, not the players, but the two head coaches of the two teams got into it with one another. After time had run out in the 4th quarter, giving San Fran the win, 49ers head coah, Jim Hardbough was pumped. So happy that his team had beat the undefeated Lions that he was jumping up and down from excitement. As the two coaches went to shake one anothers hand in the middle of the field, the 49ers coach was still on his winning high. Instead to just nicely shaking the hand of the Lions head coach, he jumped, slapped his hand, while yelling. Almost gloating in a way to the Lions that they are no longer undefeated. After that scene, the 49ers coach went jogging into the lockeroom as any other coach would. Out of no where came the Lions head coach, purposly running into him and bring up his concerns. As the coaches started talking, it quickly escalated to arguing and then it got physical. The two coaches and some players had to be restrained. Since the incident, the NFL has released a statement that they will review the actions of each coach and then take it from threre. I expect a fine for each coach, proabably a little bit heftier one the the 49ers coach considering his actions started all this.
